Due to the popularity of biking as the main transportation method on campus, the UW-L Outdoor Connection in collaboration with the Green Fund have created the Green Bike Rental program that allows students to easily and cheaply have their own bike on campus.
This community is designed for students who have a passion and an interest for outdoor activities and the environment. Residents of this community live in Eagle Hall and pay and additional $200 per semester to cover the cost of the extensive programming provided by the Outdoor Connection. The types of activities that community members participate in include: backpacking, stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, canoeing, camping, biking, caving, climbing and much more! If you have an interest in living in this community, contact Chris Dziekan, Assistant Director of Residence Life (cdziekan@uwlax.edu).
UW-L's Climbing Wall offers indoor rock climbing with all gear and instruction available to students.
Classes include: introduction to belaying, fighting gravity, fighting advanced gravity class, and route setting 101.
UW-L's rock climbing facility has joined the WICS, which currently consists of 6 collegiate schools who hold rock climbing competitions across Wisconsin. This series was created in 2011 to help promote, enhance, and sustain the climbing community in the state of Wisconsin.
The campus Child Care Center, connected to the Rec, utilizes recycled materials for its art projects and encourages children to spend time in nature. The children help with the on-site garden and take produce home to their families.
